NET Interns to Have Work Displayed Across the Pond

In partnership with the Creative Alliance of New Orleans (CANO) and the British Council's "Rivers of the World" project, NET Charter High interns will have their art work displayed in London during the Thames River Festival this fall.

Working under Professor Augustus Jenkins of Xavier University, 7 NET have been working collaboratively to create a piece of art the reflects the resources of the Mississippi River. While the students were hopeful that they would be able to travel across the pond with their piece, the art will instead be scanned and sent digitally to the producers of the Thames River Festival.

The project work days began on Friday, March 21st. There will be 6 sessions and the project will end on May 24th.

Below are a few pictures of a recent brainstorming session:

Job Well Done!!!

On January 30th, a group of young women, including 4 from the NET, graduated from the Youth Empowerment Project's Trafigura Work & Learn Center. During the year, the Work & Learn Center operates four 12-week courses that offers young people training in bicycle repair and customer service. The class that finished on the 30th was the first all-girls cohort in the world to be funded by the Trafigura Foundation. Congratulations to you all!
